According to BBC news on the 22 March 2017, a mother, Noah Zunde, who was 22 months old succumbed to heatstroke after being left in the car for seven hours and found dead.
His mother, Romy Zunde, had mistakenly believed she dropped Noah at childcare, the Coroners Court of Victoria heard.
Ms Zunde was sleep-deprived, stressed and dealing with a change in routine before the tragedy.
A psychologist told the inquest that he believed Ms Zunde suffered a memory lapse called "forgotten baby syndrome"...

According to ABC news, on the same case as above, Associate Professor of Psychology Matthew Mundy told the hearing he believed it was the result of a catastrophic memory lapse.
It is far more easy than you think to forget your child !

"When you forget something simple like forgetting to post a letter … you assume that that's a simple failure of short term memory, and it absolutely is.

"Your memory is limited, it's limited in the number of things you can remember at any given time and it's limited in the amount of time you can remember a thing for.
"At a neural level, your brain is not discriminating between a letter, your mobile phone or forgetting to retrieve your child from the back of the car.
The inquest heard Noah was normally loud during car trips but unusually fell asleep on the way to day care on the morning he died. It meant there was nothing to jog Ms Zunde's memory her son was still in the car and, after dropping her daughter at primary school, Ms Zunde's habitual memory took over, resulting in her driving straight home. When she arrived to collect her son that afternoon, the inquest heard she was confused he wasn't there. Ms Zunde tried to work out what day it was, initially believing she had turned up to the wrong daycare centre. She told detectives the car was the last place she expected her son to be. Ms Zunde opened the back door and finding him inside, cradled him until paramedics arrived. His body temperature was 40.6 degrees.

The tragedy has happened and WHO TO BLAME? Is it the parents? Or any other factors?
To me, I think that there are no one to blame for this incident.
Exceptional for the people that did it on purpose. It is our conscious to know that our children is way more important than anything else in this world, but our brain cells are not making that discrimination for us. A child and a letter are actually under the same category in our brain. We didn't choose for it, but our brain is making decision for us in categorise it.

Dave Baldwin, states that there are an average of 37 children die in hot cars, forgotten by distracted parents. There are ways to prevent these tragedies from happen.
But seems like the only and quick way to solve this problem is technology.

More and more devices and system are introduced for parents either to remind or alert them when a baby is forgotten.
I personally think that it is a good way for parents to practice.
A simple device and your children's life, which cost more?
